William A. Dupont, AIA, is the San Antonio Conservation Society Endowed Professor within the College of Architecture at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Professor Dupont teaches advanced design studio for M.Arch candidates and graduate seminars concerning historic preservation. He established a Graduate Certificate Program in Historic Preservation and is responsible for coordination of the historic preservation component within the College of Architecture.
Previously, Professor Dupont served 11 years as the architect for the National Trust Historic Sites where he worked on restorations of Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House, Philip Johnson’s Glass House, and President Lincoln’s Cottage National Monument. He still assists the organization on various projects, including leadership of a U.S. technical team supporting preservation efforts at Finca Vigia, Ernest Hemingway’s home in Cuba. Professor Dupont serves on the Boards of US/ ICOMOS (International Council of Monuments and Sites), Historic Green, Villa Finale, and Gemini Ink, plus he chairs the San Antonio AIA Historic Resources Committee. Current Research efforts include sustainable preservation in New Orleans and heritage conservation in Cuba.
