Bruce MacDougal has a professional career in historic preservation program administration at the national, state and local levels. He earned a B.A. and a Master in Architectural History from the University of Virginia. Since 1990, he has served as Executive Director for the San Antonio Conservation Society. He has also served as chair for Preservation Action, vice chair for the State of Virginia Art and Architecture Review Board, treasurer for the John Marshall Foundation and the Victorian Society in America and president for the UVA chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians.

MacDougal’s writings have been published in a regular column for the San Antonio Conservation Society Advocate, in the San Antonio Business Journal, Preservation Texas Reporter, National Trust for Historic Preservation Forum Journal, New Directions in Rural Preservation US Department of the Interior Publication, National Register of Historic Places Bulletins and the North Carolina AIA Journal.
